Community fundraiser for all the family
Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd October 2010
Sponsored Trek to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England.
Rasoolullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Whoever builds a masjid, seeking the pleasure of Allah, Allah shall build a house for him in Paradise” (Bukhari).
The Aim: To raise a minimum of £10,000 for the proposed Masjid & community centre in Central Milton Keynes, insha'Allah!
If we get fifty brothers and sisters each raising at least £200 in sponsorship money, we will hit our target of £10,000.
The details: Participators will leave Milton Keynes on Saturday 2nd October and drive to Wales where we will be staying at The Legacy, Royal Victoria hotel in Llanberis. Check in is at 4pm. We will spend the night at the hotel (£25 per person, which needs to be paid in advance to book your place on the trek), have breakfast on the morning of Sunday 3rd October and then commence the trek at about 09.00am. It is expected to take approximately six hours to reach the peak and to return back to the hotel afterwards. We then drive back to Milton Keynes on the evening of Sunday 3rd October. The trek is not arduous but people with severe health complications may be advised against it or they can participate by joining us by train. (You can get a train to the top of the mountain! subhanAllah)
Brothers, sisters and children are all welcome to participate. This will be a fun weekend with a chance for brother/sisterhood, a chance to view some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK and a chance to make our dreams of a Masjid in Central Milton Keynes come true insha'Allah.
The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: "The relationship between believers is like a wall, parts of which support others."
If you would like to participate in the sponsored trek or would like more information, please call brother Fida on 07956 678 707 or email info@mkmuslims.org. Please note there is a minimum sponsorship fee of £200 for all that wish to participate.

How to make a donation using Gift Aid
Please don't forget to Gift Aid your sponsors. If the person sponsoring you is a UK tax payer, you can claim an extra 28% from the government, on top of their donation, at no extra cost to you. So, for example, if somebody donates £10.00, we will receive £12.80 for the Masjid project. If they are a higher rate tax payer (i.e. earning more than £45 000), they can claim 25% of their donation back as well. For example, they donate £100 and claim £25 back for themselves. The mosque project still gets £128!
In order to make a Gift Aid donation you’ll need to make a Gift Aid declaration. The charity will normally ask you to complete a simple form - one form can cover every gift made to the same charity A Gift Aid declaration must include:
-
your full name (name of the person sponsoring you)
-
your home address (address of the person sponsoring you)
-
the name of the charity (Milton Keynes Muslim Association)
-
details of your donation (amount), and it should say that it's a Gift Aid donation
Allah (SWT) says in The Qur'an: The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold increase to whom He pleaseth: And Allah careth for all and He knoweth all things. (2:261)
