Jamee Masjid, in Bletchley, first opened its doors in 1977. Back then it was just a one-house conversion at 52 Duncombe Street. Since then, the community has gone from strength to strength, masha'Allah. In the following years, both numbers 48 and 50 Duncombe Street were also purchased and the masjid was expanded further.

With an ever-increasing Muslim population in the south of Milton Keynes, Jamee Masjid has seen a dramatic increase in the number of worshippers attending, especially for the Friday prayers.

The Muslim community in Bletchley is predominantly Bangladeshi and the Khutbahs are in Bengali.

A large courtyard, recently built outside, provides enough space for everyone, even when the masjid itself is full.

The Masjid has three different areas for praying. There is no area for sisters to pray.

There is no car park on the masjid grounds itself, but there is a large car park nearby at Sainsbury's, which will set you back 40p for two hours or £1 for an all-day ticket.

There is now a tent/canopy in the courtyard and there are further plans to extend the Masjid inshaAllah.

Central Jamia Masjid is situated in the North-West corner of Milton Keynes, in Wolverton. It is both the largest and newest of Milton Keynes' three Sunni masajid.

Opened in 1995, with just one main room and an initial capacity of 350, CJM, like Bletchley, has undergone several modifications and extensions as the Muslim population of Wolverton has increased. In 2003, a second larger room, known as Shaikan Ahmed Alfarsi Hall, was constructed, bringing the new capacity of the masjid to just under a thousand.

There is an additional room upstairs which can accommodate up to 150 sisters, as well as another large room for brothers which is of similar size to Shaikan Ahmed Alfarsi Hall. The current total capacity of the masjid is approximately 1600. CJM has a fairly large wudu area and also provides facilities for funeral preparations and body-washing.

There is a small car park within the grounds for about twenty five cars, with an additional large car park across the road, which is free of charge.

The khutbah was previously delivered in Urdu: a reflection of the large Pakistani community which resides in Wolverton and the surrounding areas, but has recently changed to English mashaAllah.

In the early 1980s, the Muslims of North Milton Keynes had nowhere to pray, with the only established masjid situated in the south of the town too far away for many to attend. In 1982 the Muslim population of North Milton Keynes used to pray in a house in Wolverton. Their application for planning permission to convert the house into a masjid was denied.

It wasn’t until the mid-eighties that a masjid was finally available in North Milton Keynes. Despite most of the Muslims in North Milton Keynes living in Wolverton, the first space offered to them was in New Bradwell, a mile and a half away. A hall formerly used by Jehovah’s Witnesses became available and the Muslim community jumped at the chance to have a masjid of their own.

This small hall was extended in the mid-nineties when the adjoining shop was bought and converted. A sisters' area was added upstairs and the house next door was also bought, where the full-time imam now lives. The masjid currently accommodates approximately 450 brothers & 150 sisters.

The khutbahs are in Urdu. The masjid also provides facilities for body-washing. It is recommended that you arrive early on Fridays as there is limited parking. If the mosque happens to be locked outside of salah times, knock on the house next door and the imam will be happy to let you in.
